Student Exchange Opportunity for AAST student Cory Perry AAST student Cory Perry has been awarded the 2018 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award by the International Sculpture Center, through the School of Art. From that award, he has been offered the opportunity to participate in an exchange student program between the University of Arkansas and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, in Kumasi, Ghana. |

Samantha Tafoya, from Siloam Springs, a 2018 University of Arkansas graduate, has been awarded a Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship following a highly competitive nationwide contest. As an Honors College student Tafoya majored in political science, journalism and African-American studies in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, with a minor in anthropology. She graduated cum laude in the spring of 2018. |

Two residence halls in the Northwest Quad were named to honor University of Arkansas professors Margaret Clark and Gordon Morgan.
The first two African American professors at the University of Arkansas both began teaching in 1969. “Combined, Clark and Morgan put in 72 years on this campus,” Steinmetz said. “72 years of nurturing students, mentoring students, teaching students.” Clark initially taught world languages while Morgan was hired as an assistant professor of sociology.
The U of A Board of Trustees approved the namings on Jan. 31, at the board’s regular
meeting on the Univerity of Arkansas for Medical Sciences campus in Little Rock. Clark
and Morgan are described as making the university a more welcoming place and a better
place to live, study, and learn.
